High (German) self-esteem

28 Feb

Feeling good today? Not after Martin Luther’s had a word with you. Some enterprising soul has had the excellent idea of collating some of Luther’s finest insults here, creating the world’s second ‘Lutheran Insulter’. The first one, of course, being Luther himself, a man whose ability to spray vitriol was unmatched among reformation thinkers. I like to think that, if he were alive today, he’d be commenting below to say ‘Your words are so foolishly and ignorantly composed that I cannot believe you understand them’.

And in case you were wondering: yes, the title of this piece is a joke about Hochdeutsch. It’s all laughs here at EMJ.
